چکیده

Digestate is a nutrient-rich substance produced by anaerobic digestion that contains organic, inorganic, and biological matter. The European Nitrates Directive (91/676/EEC) provides regulations regarding the wider implementation of digestate. Owing to significant amount organic matter in digestate, it can be utilised as solid biofuel, soil amendment substance, or substrate for activated carbon production. However, by-products municipal waste wet fraction cannot used such applications because still considered waste. Hydrothermal carbonisation (HTC) was investigated pre-treatment method digestate obtained fraction. HTC carried out at temperatures 180, 200 230 °C residence times 30, 60 120 min. value pressure determined based on water temperature partial gaseous by-products. process resulted changes physical chemical properties hydrochars compared those raw materials. A time min during were optimal energy consumption; this hydrochar exhibited best combustion parameters (specific surface area).

Micro-scale anaerobic digestion of point source components of organic fraction of municipal solid waste.

The fermentation characteristics of six specific types of the organic fraction of municipal solid waste (OFMSW) were examined, with an emphasis on properties that are needed when designing plug-flow type anaerobic bioreactors. More specifically, the decomposition patterns of a vegetable (cabbage), fruits (banana and citrus peels), fresh leaf litter of bamboo and teak leaves, and paper (newsprin...

A comparative technology assessment of the anaerobic digestion of an organic fraction of municipal solid waste

Anaerobic digestion is the biological degradation process of organic matter under anoxic conditions, with production of methane and inorganic by-products, including carbon dioxide. Over the past years, many studies on anaerobic digestion of the organic fraction of municipal solid waste (OFMSW) have been carried out at a laboratory, bench and pilot scale. This work aims to summarize the main fea...

Mixing effect on thermophilic anaerobic digestion of source-sorted organic fraction of municipal solid waste.

This paper examines the effect of mixing on the performance of thermophilic anaerobic digestion of source-sorted organic fraction of municipal solid waste during the start-up phase and in the absence of an acclimated seed. For this purpose, two digesters were used under similar starting conditions and operated for 235 days with different mixing schemes. While both digesters exhibited a successf...

Evaluating inhibition conditions in high-solids anaerobic digestion of organic fraction of municipal solid waste.

High-solids anaerobic digestion (HSAD) processes, when applied to different types of organic fractions of municipal solid waste (OFMSW), may easily be subjected to inhibition due to organic overloading. In this study, a new approach for predicting these phenomena was proposed based on the estimation of the putrescibility (oxygen consumption in 20 h biodegradation, OD(20)) of the organic mixture...

The anaerobic digestion of solid organic waste.

The accumulation of solid organic waste is thought to be reaching critical levels in almost all regions of the world. These organic wastes require to be managed in a sustainable way to avoid depletion of natural resources, minimize risk to human health, reduce environmental burdens and maintain an overall balance in the ecosystem. A number of methods are currently applied to the treatment and m...
